It was during his four years at the Financial Times Group that Angus first saw the opportunity to develop a specialist financial media agency, one able to provide practitioners in the financial markets with in-depth, yet independent advice on financial media globally.
Since founding Fundamental Media in 2003 and winning its first client, Credit Suisse, Angus has managed the evolution of the company into a significant player in the global planning and buying space. He is passionate about new technology and systems and is continually looking for new innovations and dynamic solutions for clients to help them improve their businesses.
Jan joined Fundamental Media during its first year and has focused on building and developing strategic partnerships with European Fund Management clients. With over 20 years’ experience he has accumulated a wealth of in-depth knowledge and insight into the European financial media buying landscape enabling him to provide expertise and innovative media solutions to his clients to support them with all their marketing activities. More recently in his position as Clients Services Director he has extended this remit to Fundamental Media’s global client base.
Louise has been working in the financial services industry for over 25 years and was a founding member of Adventis Coltman.
In 2012 Louise and Fundamental Media purchased Adventis Coltman Media to form the UK division of FML. As part of the Board of Directors she was instrumental in the successful merger of the two companies.
Her day to day priority is in maintaining relationships with FML’s key clients and contacts with an emphasis on advising on overall media strategy. However, her recent focus as Chief of Staff has also been to develop and deliver a robust employee relations and engagement strategy across all our offices.
Andrew joined the Fundamental Media team in 2012. His background in global publishing and conferences covers financial, insurance/reinsurance, legal and corporate risk management markets and has proved essential when dealing with Fundamental Media’s clients worldwide. He divides his time between Dubai and the United States.
Prior to joining Fundamental Media Andrew worked in the media industry for companies including The Daily Mail Group, IBC Conferences, Informa Plc and latterly Funds Europe/ Funds Global magazines as well as working on a consultancy basis for a number of leading publishing houses.
Robyn has been involved with Fundamental Media on an interim basis since its inception in 2003. In March 2012, she took on the permanent role of Group Finance Director, as well as taking on responsibility for HR & IT and Compliance. Robyn trained with Ernst & Young South Africa, spending four years within their Audit, IT and Consulting divisions. In 1999, she moved to London where she joined PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Transaction Services team, working on due diligence and IPO assignments, as well as specialising in Post Deal Integration. Her move to industry was into Financial Planning and Analysis and Strategy roles, where she has worked for both public and private companies. Robyn is a Chartered Accountant and also has an MBA from Warwick University.
After graduating, Iain joined Coltman Media in 2003 before moving to Fundamental Media in 2012. He has a wealth of experience and an extensive knowledge of the media industry with a specialism in digital media, social media, PPC and the programmatic process. In his current role as Managing Director he leads the development of overarching media strategies across all channels for FM’s clients globally and ensures their implementation by the Media Teams to deliver outstanding service and results.
Nina has over 10 years specialist financial marketing and media experience. She joined Fundamental Media in 2010 and was instrumental in founding and developing the company’s offices in the Middle East and Asia. As Managing Director of Asia she is responsible for key accounts in the Pan-Asian and Australian markets as well as continuing to developing FM’s business across the region. She also heads up the internal intrapreneurship mentoring programme ‘Innovation Lab’. Launched in 2016 the programme promotes and supports new company initiatives developed by staff.
Sarah has over twenty years’ agency experience and leads the team dedicated to Fundamental Media’s Education clients. Planning and buying
on a global scale, Sarah’s focus is research and results-driven marketing to help maximise ROI and brand presence in very competitive and changeable markets. Sarah works closely with her clients to help them constantly evolve, keeping abreast of innovations in media and the
markets they operate in.
Geraldine has been with Fundamental Media since 2008, having previously worked in financial publishing. Her work over the years has been mainly focused on strategising with financial services clients in order to help them achieve their marketing goals. A process-driven individual, Geraldine continues to work closely with clients but is now also responsible for the smooth operational running of Fundamental Media on a global basis.
Chris has been building complex systems for private and public sector organisations for nearly 20 years as well as founding companies in the print and IT industries in the UK and New Zealand. He studied Aeronautical Engineering at Imperial College London; his skills include software development and management of infrastructure and support systems.
Chris moved to Fundamental Media from the European Medicines Agency in May 2013 and he is responsible for the development of Fundamental Intelligence, the company’s proprietary database and software system and associated IT infrastructure.
Andrea joined the US team in 2015 as Account Director working across the SSGA, State Street Bank, and Eaton Vance accounts. She brings to the team a wealth of experience having spent nine years working in the US media space at the representation firm Katz Media for four years, and four years at Boston-based full service ad agency Hill Holliday. Most recently she was working in the programmatic ad-tech space before joining Fundamental Media.
Hannah joined the team in 2015 and works closely with some of our leading clients developing and implementing media strategies across the UK and international markets. She has a wealth of experience in B2B and financial media planning having worked in these sectors previously at Mindshare UK. She also has extensive knowledge of the out of home landscape from her role at PSI Advertising, the international outdoor media planning and buying arm of the Dentsu Aegis Network. There she was responsible for planning and delivering the advertising for a wide range of clients from BMW to Burberry.
Laura joined Fundamental Media in early 2015 and works closely with key clients on their advertising & marketing strategy, planning and approach across all Asian markets. Prior to joining the team Laura worked for over two years agency side with some major International asset managers. She has extensive experience in project and campaign management and in working with clients to provide integrated and cost effective media solutions. After completing her Masters Degree in Translation in Australia she worked for a period of time in marketing.
Daniel has a background in web development, with over eight years of experience in IT programming and administration. He entered the financial media industry in 2012, promoting and developing print, online, event and business initiatives for an investments and wealth management publication. He has a wealth of experience working with asset managers, private banks, retail banks, insurance companies and IFAs / brokerages. Daniel joined Fundamental Media in 2015 to provide holistic marketing solutions across multiple platforms and regions to Fundamental Media’s clients.
Shanti started working for Fundamental Media in 2016, initially based in our Hong Kong office where she focused on the pan - APAC region before moving to join the London team in 2017. Prior to joining Fundamental Media, Shanti worked for over seven years in marketing and communications and spent three years agency side with another financial media agency in London. She has extensive experience in direct response media and has worked with clients across a wide range of industries including forex education, property and investment.
Darren joined Fundamental Media’s London office in 2016 and is responsible for a number of key accounts across both the UK & International teams. He has experience working across multiple media channels, but has a particular focus on digital.
After graduating from the University of Leeds in 2006, he spent two years in sales at Centaur, before moving to the Agency side in 2008. He has worked across a range of financial clients at both Capital City Media and Maxus Global, before most recently working as Head of Communications for a start-up based in Cardiff. He now brings this wealth of experience with him to Fundamental.
Haydon has been in the publishing industry since 1994 and in the financial sector since 2005. Until joining Fundamental Media in July 2014 he worked for a variety of media owners selling across a wide range of disciplines including advertising, sponsorship, events and online. His wealth of experience on the sell-side gives him an excellent insight into how publishers work. His sales philosophy has always been consultative, with a view to helping clients to achieve the best strategic outcomes; having moved over to the “other side”, he now applies the same approach to his new role: planning and buying the media that he used to sell.
Carly has been working in media planning since 2010 when she began her agency career in Ireland. Before joining Fundamental Media in 2016, Carly worked on clients in the Telecoms, FMCG and Travel sectors, with experience of targeting D2C and B2B. Carly is passionate about planning campaigns that will deliver results for clients, with a firm belief that advertising should be both accountable and measurable.
Alex joined the Fundamental Media team at the end of 2015 and works for key clients on the European side of the business. He has extensive financial services and agency experience previously managing the media planning and buying for BlackRock and IShares as part of the international team at MEC. Following BlackRock’s move to a different agency he took on a strategic role managing the Beiersdorf, Visa Europe and Netflix accounts across 26 local markets. Key projects included accelerating digital innovation and growth and improving the network management and communications across the EMEA region. Alex is a fluent French, German and Spanish speaker
Giada joined Fundamental Media in 2016 after graduating from the University of Westminster where she studied International business with Chinese (Mandarin). Following a year working as a media planner and buying executive for EMEA clients in London, Giada moved to the Hong Kong Office to follow her interest in the region and to utilise her language capabilities. She works with key clients across the Pan-APAC and Australian markets.
Denise started working at Fundamental Media Middle East in 2011 with responsibility for the day to day management of the office and research support. During 2014 her remit was increased to include an HR management role.
In 2000 Denise completed her Bachelor’s Degree in the Philippines and worked at one of the largest banks in the Philippines for seven years reaching the position of Assistant Manager. In 2007 she moved to Dubai and began her media agency career in 2008 with Starcom MediaVest Group as a Media Buying Assistant.
Victor joined Fundamental Media in 2011 whilst doing his PhD at Royal Holloway, University of London. Since then he has conducted in-depth research on the Asset Management industry (both Retail and Institutional) in more than 30 markets across Europe, North America, Asia and Latin America. He is responsible for delivering on-going professional development training to all staff on the complexities and developments of the financial markets. Victor’s academic background and professional experience cover different areas in the humanities as well as in economics and financial services. He speaks fluent English, Spanish, German, French and Italian.
After studying accountancy and completing his Association of Accounting Technician qualification Phillip joined Fundamental Media in 2011. During his time at Fundamental Media Phillip has worked in almost every functional area within the Accounts and Central teams in London, and is therefore a useful point of contact for both clients and suppliers alike. Phillip is now the Company Accountant responsible for Fundamental Media Limited and Fundamental Media UK Limited. He is currently studying for his Association of Chartered Certified Accountants qualification.
Emma joined Fundamental Media in September 2013 and has been involved in improving the design and presentation of the company both internally and externally through a strategic rebranding process including the development of a new website. She also provides marketing support to the Media Team. Prior to joining the company she worked at Penguin Books for twelve years where she was involved in the international marketing of The World of Peter Rabbit brand before moving internally to become a Product Manager for Ladybird Books.
Mia has been working in the creative industry for thirteen years. She joined Fundamental Media in May 2014 and has played a pivotal role in updating and developing design across all aspects of the company. Previously she worked as an Art Director for the international newspaper Metro leading design teams in 22 countries around the world. Mia also built a data visualization section for Metro International working on varied sources of data from health, politics, entertainment to news which involved creating specific info-graphic projects as well as developing data visualization product features for print and online.
Jenni started working for Fundamental's US office in Spring 2016. She is responsible for media planning and buying across the key client accounts of Eaton Vance and Swiss Re with a particular focus in digital advertising.
After graduating from the University of New Hampshire Jenni developed her interest in digital marketing whilst working for TechTarget, an online media network that provides corporations across the globe sales and marketing opportunities. Her role involved campaign planning for the data center and storage media groups and she was responsible for planning content and managing the performance of both lead generation and click campaigns.
Michelle joined Fundamental Media’s US office in 2015 to manage the media planning and buying for State Street and Swiss Re. Her experience in media planning and buying has been both client and agency side, most recently at Williams Interactive and Mindshare Worldwide. She has worked with clients across a wide range of industries including technology, gaming, and pharmaceuticals.
Zak joined Fundamental Media in October 2016, shortly after working at Comcast Spotlight as an account planner for over two years. He has a background in hospitality, marketing and most recently media planning and sales. In college, he studied business as well as Arabic and Latin while working as the food and beverage manager of a hotel.
Daniel joined Fundamental Media’s Boston office in 2016 to work on the Eaton Vance, and State Street Global Advisors accounts. After graduating Daniel initially worked in financial services research before joining the advertising agency Mullen where he was responsible for the media planning and buying for key account Jet Blue with a particular focus on digital advertising.
Noreen joined Fundamental Media in early 2016 as part of the Asian team. Having studied Linguistics and Marketing at university, she gained unique insights into the ever-changing media landscape. Before joining the company, she worked in the Digital Marketing field specialising in Social Media and Web Development. Noreen speaks Cantonese, English and Mandarin.
JR joined the Fundamental Media team in 2016 from Starcom (Toronto). He has good all round agency experience with a particular focus on digital media and has worked with key FMCG clients such as Kellogg's. He joins Fundamental Media as Senior Account Executive and will continue his digital focus, planning and buying for a wide range of FM's UK and International clients.
JR is a native German speaker and a graduate in Advertising and Media Sales
Francesca started working in the International team at Fundamental Media in 2015. The main focus of her role is media planning and buying for European clients with a particular emphasis on the Italian and Spanish market. In addition she is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with a variety of European media owners and UK based agencies.
Prior to joining Fundamental Media she worked for three years at Prime Media International where she focused on the media markets of Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands and Belgium providing market research and marketplace knowledge. Francesca is a native Italian speaker.
Max joined the Fundamental Media team as Account Executive in 2015. His particular area of interest is digital advertising and he is able to provide clients with media efficiency and innovation in this area as well as working within the more traditional media sectors. Max graduated with a degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications from Greenwich University and also has a Certificate in Digital Marketing from the Institution of Direct and Digital Marketing (IDM).
Louise started working at Fundamental Media in 2015. She has several years’ experience in developing and fulfilling media strategies working in close communication with key clients across different market sectors. She has a strong research and analysis background and is always looking for opportunities to maximise the reach and budgets of her clients’ campaigns. Prior to working in media she worked for a major public relations company.
Rumi joined Fundamental Media as one of our Company Accountants in 2014. Rumi manages the accounts for the Dubai, Hong Kong and the United States offices, as well as providing direct support to the Finance Director. She has worked in accountancy for 11 years and has extensive experience across several industry sectors including travel, publishing and property. Rumi has completed her Advanced Diploma in Accountancy and Business, and is close to achieving her ACCA accreditation.
After graduating from Durham University, Marjorie completed her Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma. She has over four years media planning and buying experience with a particular specialism in direct response across both online and offline channels,. Before joining the FM London team in 2017 her previous role was at MediaCom working on their retail client accounts with a focus on analysis led planning and optimisation for strong return.
Naoko joined Fundamental Media's Hong Kong office in 2016 and is responsible for the media strategy, campaign and delivery for key clients across the Japanese region. She has a wide range of experience within the Asian financial services industry previously working for a leading investment company as a Relationship Manager and for over three years on the Wall Street Journal’s Asian edition.
Amanda joined Fundamental Media in January 2017 as Group Reporting and Billings Controller. She trained as a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers South Africa. Amanda has extensive Controlling and FP&A experience, from global corporates in the United Kingdom and South Africa; her last 9 years at a leading JSE listed Logistics and Automotive Company in Johannesburg.
Dimitris has worked for over 8 years as a digital marketing professional in several leading media agencies; iProspect (Dentsu Aegis), Mozaik (an award winning independent agency) and was Co-creator of WebSEOAnalytics.com, a search marketing data and analytics start-up.
As an aspiring creative technologist, data geek and design thinker Dimitris loves to use marketing & technology to solve problems. His latest role at Fundamental Media is managing the Biddable Media Team and overseeing digital channel strategy including paid search, paid social, and programmatic display with the aim of delivering tangible results
Tom graduated in 2016 from the London Institute of Banking and Finance where he studied Banking Practice & Management with a focus on the retail market but with elements of exposure to the investment and wealth side of the industry.
Whilst studying he undertook an internship at Barclays in Internal Audit and after graduating worked at BRT SA as a Wealth Management Operations Analyst dealing with account reconciliations, securities pricing, and reporting for the company's wealth management team.
He joins FM's media team as an Account Executive working primarily on the UK side of the business.
Wing joined the Fundamental Media London team at the end of 2016, and works across both the UK and European markets. She has strong agency experience having previously worked for Mindshare in Hong Kong where she managed the key wealth management account HSBC and PHD in Hong Kong where she managed the key retail banking account, Standard Chartered Bank. She is a fluent English, Cantonese, Mandarin speaker.
Nicole joined Fundamental Media's US team in 2016 and works with State Street Global Advisors. She is passionate about Client Service and Financial Services Marketing. Her enjoyment at work is derived from successful client relationship management. After graduating from Northeastern University, Nicole worked at Natixis Global Asset Management for four years. Prior to joining Fundamental Media she worked on the Marketing team at Man Group. There she handled the product reporting, client presentations, and custom sales materials.
Though originally from the US, Marilyn has been based in Hong Kong for several years. Prior to joining Fundamental Media in 2017 she worked for a specialist media agency working with leading financial institutions. Her new role at FM sees her responsible for the strategic media planning and implementation for FM's key Asset Management clients across the Pan-Asian region and for building relationships with key asset owners to create and enhance positive partnerships.
Christie joined Fundamental in 2017 after spending the last eight years in financial services where she worked in Corporate Banking, both in Canada and the UK. Christie’s experience lies in account management for global businesses, sales and business development which are skills she brings to Fundamental as she looks after financial services clients in the UK and internationally. Christie has a Master’s in Business and has always been passionate about asset management, completing her Canadian Securities Course out of interest while she lived in Canada.
Ana joined the Paid Search Team at Fundamental Media in July 2016. She is responsible for planning managing and optimising global PPC campaigns with a particular focus on FM's investment clients in UK and USA. After gaining her Master's Degree in Economics and Business Ana decided to specialise in digital marketing. She has worked with several global search marketing agencies with responsibility for multinational SEO projects from inception to delivery for clients (Zebra Technologies, Motorola Solutions) predominantly in the tech industry.
Before joining Fundamental Media in 2017 Taylan spent several years agency-side working for Carat on both the Wickes and Santander accounts. He has a wealth of media planning experience across all key channels, ranging from TV to Paid Social and Experiential. Whilst at Carat he was part of team that won the C4 Homes Sponsorship for Wickes as well as managing their partnership with The English Football League ensuring assets were utilized effectively to help grow their audience. As part of FM's London Media team Taylan works for key clients across the UK and Europe markets.
Sarah joined Fundamental Media in early 2017 and works with clients developing and implementing media strategies across the US and international markets. Prior to joining Fundamental Media, Sarah worked in the financial services industry for over 9 years, holding positions at Axa Equitable and Natixis. Latterly, at Natixis, she headed the marketing efforts and launched a new distribution arm, NGAM Canada for Natixis Global Asset Management and was responsible for marketing, PR and advertising for all of NGAM Canada.
After graduating from the University of Warwick Shamillah started her career at the Telegraph Media group. Before joining Fundamental Media’s London team in 2017 she worked within the Education Sector developing and fulfilling innovative strategies across digital channels in the UK and international markets; for Universities and Business Schools. She has wide-ranging digital media experience gained by working closely with clients to deliver durable business advantage in media markets being transformed by technology.
